All Elite Wrestling star Saraya has heaped praise on Sasha Banks for ‘knowing her worth’ by leaving WWE earlier this year.
The 30-year-old star, best known to WWE fans as Paige before her exit over the summer and subsequent in-ring return for rivals AEW, has some kind words for the Legit Boss amid reports she is set to make her New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) debut at Wrestle Kingdom on Wednesday (January 4).
In a recent chat, she exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I love the fact that she took her career into her own hands, and she knows her worth and she knows she wants to be treated a certain way, and she deserves to be treated that way because she’s done a lot for the wrestling business.
‘She’s one of the girls that puts butts in seats, and you want to see wrestle and you wanna see main event. She deserves all those things.’
Back in May, Sasha and her then-tag team partner Naomi dumped their championship titles on the desk of WWE’s then-head of talent relations and walked out of Raw over creative issues.
They haven’t appeared on WWE TV since and there are plenty of rumours that Sasha – whose real name is Mercedes Varnado – could even be heading to AEW, while she recently trademarked the name Mone’ Banks for entertainment and merchandise purposes.

It remains to be seen what her future plans are in wrestling, but Saraya said while she knows any company that lands Sasha will be ‘very lucky’, she’s ‘selfishly’ wanting her to become All Elite.
‘Wherever she ends up, I’m gonna be happy for her, and anyone that gets her is gonna be very, very lucky. I just selfishly hope that I get to wrestle her one day,’ she admitted.
And she laughed: ‘I don’t know if she’d want to because she’d probably be scared to wrestle me again.’

Saraya appeared in her first match in five years in November at AEW Full Gear after suffering a career ending injury in 2017 after an accident in the ring with Sasha.
There is no hard feelings between the pair, and while the Norwich-born wrestler admitted some fans still troll her over the incident, Sasha was the one of the first people she told when she was cleared to return to the ring.
She gushed: ‘I would love to face her one day, of course. The reason why I told her – I’ve never been on her about my neck, ever. I’ve always told her, “Don’t stress, it happens, it’s wrestling”.
‘Even after the match when she was crying in the doctors office, I was like, “Please, it was an accident, it’s totally fine.” It was my fault, the move – I’ve always said that, and I’ve always publicly had her back about that.
‘I just wanted her to feel better mentally. I got my career back! Please stop stressing yourself about this.’
And although Saraya would get it if Sasha was unsure about sharing the ring again, she would welcome the chance to put the past behind them by creating magic between the ropes.
‘I totally understand that,’ she said. ‘She’s just a really good wrestler, so any opportunity, if anyone wanted to wrestle her, they would take it.’
AEW Dynamite airs Wednesday nights at 1am on Fite TV.
