Lewis Cope joined the soap line-up in late 2022 as Nicky after Dawn Taylor and Gabby Thomas decided to focus on their professional lives.
The new Home Farm employee made a good first impression as he instantly hit it off with Clemmie and Lucas.
Gabby Thomas (portrayed by Rosie Bentham) was also charmed by the new nanny and a romance is slowly growing.
However, some ITV viewers believe he’s too good to be true and have gone as far as to predict he’s hiding a sinister motive.
A handful of them are convinced he may also have a link to Joe Tate who fled the village in 2018 when Kim Tate tried to get him killed.
After surviving the attempted murder, Joe faked his death with the help of Graham Foster.
He was revealed to be alive and living abroad, spending Kim’s money, in 2019 – but could he come back?
Soap fans are almost expecting it as one of them penned: “I think Nicky is something to do with Joe?”
Other viewers jumped in, convinced Jamie Tate could have sent Nicky to wreak havoc in his mother Kim’s life.
“No it’s Jamie not [Alex]”, one social media user commented as another echoed in response to a theory about Joe: “Do you mean Jamie?”
Much like Joe before him, Jamie faked his own death in 2021 and his lie was later revealed to his daughter Millie.

But after staying with his ex-wife Andrea Tate’s mother Hazel, Jamie turned violent, pushing the latter in a flight of stairs.
Jamie is staying from the village, remaining in a mystery location but many viewers believe he will come back to the Dales to take his son Thomas from Gabby.
Could Nicky be the one to help him?
Speaking about his character to The Mirror, actor Lewis Cope hinted that viewers are right to suspect Nicky is up to something.
“At the moment he’s a lovely person, and there’s nothing to say. He kind of fits the bill”, he said.
“He is almost too good to be true though, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
Meanwhile, soap boss Jane Hudson added there will be “a few reveals” as Nicky and Gabby grow closer.
“There’s lots of fun in store for Nicky and Gabby as we watch their fledgling romance and like any good story, there will be a few reveals along the way.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
