As a new school year begins, a peaceful protest turned into a school riot and the events of the day had huge ramifications for everyone involved.
Many years later, the first episode aired on BBC One tonight, but viewers were not impressed.
Some even said they “switched off” just minutes into the show and branded it ” a pile of c**p” as they took to Twitter to complain.
One viewer wrote: “Lol what an absolute let down #WaterlooRoad is. Should’ve stopped when they were going to move the school to Scotland. Should’ve left it at that. New series.”
Another added: “This is honestly so weird to watch, it’s nothing like it used to be and will never beat the original.”
A third wrote: “I give up, this is awful and it’s barely been 10minutes. #bringbackholby.”
A fourth raged: “5 minutes in and this remade #WaterlooRoad is already w**k.”
A fifth, said before switching off: “Oh well… I lasted 10 minutes.”
A sixth fumed: “Oh p**s off and get to class…British school are turning into a joke or stereo type on TV! Bore off enough of this c**p being rammed down our throats!”
Despite some viewers not enjoying the first episode, others had nothing but good things to say about the reboot.
One fan wrote: “It’s so lovely to see Waterloo Road back on our screens again.”
Another added: “Waterloo Road is back on top form. I’m so excited for this season!”
While a third praised: “The actors are just great. It’s good to see everyone back. So excited for this series.”

This season will be dealing with topics, such as teen homelessness, to the cost of living, being LGBTQ+, racism, sexism, mental health and everything else facing young teens today.
