Is Loki still under Thanos’ thumb in Marvel series? Fans spot hint

As Loki viewers prepare for episode 5 of the Marvel series to drop on Disney Plus this week, fans have spotted a mega hint in the credits that the God of Mischief could still be under Thanos’ control.

Loki, which sees Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as the titular character, is set straight after the events of the first Avengers film, which came out in 2012 and saw Loki wage war against the group of superheroes in New York.

At that time, Loki had entered an alliance with Thanos, promising to retrieve the Tesseract in exchange for power of the Chitauri army and possession of a Scepter containing the Mind Stone, which he used to manipulate people’s minds.

While Loki ended up turning on Thanos (Josh Brolin) and teaming up with his brother Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in the later MCU films, a small detail in the credits for Loki could be a clue as to where the loyalties of the 2012 version of the character lie.

In a blink-it-and-you-miss-it moment, a piece of paper is shown in the credits of the Marvel series showing what Loki said when he first crossed paths with the TVA (Time Variance Authority).

Just above, it shows the final words he said to the Avengers when they defeated him, when he light-heartedly quipped: ‘If it’s all the same to you, I’ll have that drink now.’

Next, when the TVA tracks him down, he tries to convince them that they’ve made a mistake over his arrest.

GUYS IN THE CREDITS IF YOU PAUSE IT AT 44:16 IT SHOWS WHAT LOKI SAID BEFORE COMING INTO THE TVA WHICH IS “friend I think there’s been a mistake I am Loki of Asgard and you will regret this I am burdened with glorious purpose I stand at the right hand of Thanos” IM FREAKING TF OUT

‘Friend, I think there’s been a mistake. I am Loki of Asgard and you will regret this,’ he says, according to the document shown in the credits.

He then adds: ‘I am burdened with glorious purpose. I stand at the right hand of Thanos.’

If Loki still considers himself Thanos’ right hand man, could he be acting out of his allegiance to the villain in the Marvel series?

He could just be name-dropping Thanos in an effort to intimidate the TVA agents, which sounds like the more probable option.

Nonetheless, several Loki fans were reeling over the idea of Loki still being under Thanos’ thumb after the Battle of New York.

‘Well before the TVA took him he still was really an ally of Thanos…,’ one person remarked.

‘Ok I genuinely hope it was just to scare them because I can’t handle Marvel putting him through that again lmao,’ another stated.

On Marvel’s website, it states that when Loki was in control of the Scepter in Avengers, he didn’t realise that it was ‘also influencing him, fueling his hatred over his brother Thor and the inhabitants of Earth’.

So now that Loki has been separated from the Mind Stone, that should mean that he’s just pretending to still be in cahoots with Thanos. Right?

Loki returns on Wednesday and is available to watch on Disney Plus.
