Marnie Simpson and Casey Johnson call off their wedding

GEORDIE Shore star Marnie Simpson and fiance Casey Johnson have called off their wedding due to coronavirus restrictions.

Marnie, 29, and Casey, 26, have been engaged since summer 2020 but their plans for their dream wedding have once again been pushed back along with a nation of lovers waiting to tie the knot across the UK.

Former Geordie Shore star Marnie, who shares a one-year-old son called Rox with her husband-to-be, has reportedly put off the big day that was supposed to take place at the end of this summer.

OK! Magazine reports a source claims that the reality TV star “even sent out invites” for the now-cancelled event.

The source told the publication: “Marnie planned her wedding for this August and even sent out invites.

“She had already booked the venue, started organising her wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, cakes and flowers. But with the Covid restrictions not being lifted in time, she’s decided to put it off until next year.”

Back in May Marnie discussed her wedding plans with the magazines and revealed her guest list – and of course, it was overflowing with reality TV stars.

It included Holly Hagan, Charlotte Crosby, Chloe Ferry, Sophie Kasaei, and Nathan Henry.

Marnie recalled how she had completed her wedding dress hunt, decoration details had been decided and finalised, and she had even found her dream venue.

Sadly Covid restrictions for weddings in the UK are still unclear amid the coronavirus pandemic, with Marnie allegedly delaying to make sure she can have the dream day to go along with where she’s getting wed.

The source continued to OK! that the star “wanted a really relaxed and fun wedding where people can enjoy themselves, and as it stands this wouldn’t be the case”.

They continued: “She feels she won’t be able to enjoy it as there are certain restrictions currently in place, such as only the bride and groom being able to dance.

“And she’ll be worrying that her friends and family won’t be able to let their hair down and enjoy the day, too.

“She’s gutted it can’t go ahead, but because the rules are ever-changing, it could get to the day before her wedding and the country could be heading into another lockdown.”

Currently, in the UK any number of guests can now be invited to a wedding ceremony or reception held outside or in a Covid-secure public venue.

Nonetheless, venues must comply with social distancing rules, which will limit how many people they can host.

They must also provide table service. In addition, dancing and singing are still restricted.

Face coverings must be worn indoors by everyone over the age of 11 when not eating or drinking, unless they are exempt.
