From Hilary Duff to Kim Kardashian, celebs have found that playing with makeup is a great way to bond with their kids.
During the COVID-19 quarantine, Duff took to her Instagram Story in April 2020 to share the full process of her son Luca Cruz Comrie doing her makeup. When The Haunting of Sharon Tate actress asked her little boy what the vibe of the look was going to be, he replied, “I’m not telling you.” But when showcasing the finished product, Duff sarcastically called it subtle. “It’s unique,” she continued. “I’ve never done makeup like this before, but I like it.”
Probably our favorite of 2020 makeovers, though, was Jimmy Kimmel’s. In honor of Bring Your Kid to Work Day, the late night host let his daughter Jane do his makeup for Jimmy Kimmel Live in April 2020. Wearing a princess dress and crown, the little girl worked away on her dad, giving him bright red lips and lined eyes. He joked, “Who knew my color palette was Jolly Rancher.”
But not all of these makeup sessions happened during the coronavirus pandemic. After all, Kylie Jenner has been giving Stormi her Lip Kits to play with forever. Even if she isn’t quite as good as her mom at applying lipstick.
One of the most viral makeup looks created was North West’s artwork on her famous mom, Kim Kardashian. In November 2022, she applied green eyeshadow colors all over the reality star’s face to make her look like the Grinch. To complete the look, Kardashian dressed up in a silky green top and posed for the camera.
The SKKN by Kim founder previously let North go to work on her face in April 2022. At the time, a TikTok trend of applying cosmetics to transform someone into a Despicable Me Minion was viral, and the mother-daughter duo hopped on the bandwagon. Using yellow paint, North created the creatures’ signature glow and added black rounded glasses.
To show off North’s masterpiece, the Kardashians star posed with a kissy face and threw up a peace sign at the end of the real, which the two captioned “? Mommy Minion ?.”
