If you need a pick-me-up, there are plenty of ways to show yourself a little love that doesn’t involve any additional members. Try some of these tips to feel more connected and inspired with your body and your sexuality.
1. Go Solo

This applies to women’s sexual health as well as men’s. Try something new and break out of tired habits when it comes to your alone time.

2. Treat Yourself Physically
You don’t have to go shopping or go to the movies alone. You can enjoy your own body in many ways. Try a luxurious bath with all your favorite salts and scents. Give yourself a hot oil massage and really feel your own body.
There are also good food choices you can pair with these to enjoy and enhance the experience. Give your body a moment to slow down.
3. Check-In and Check-Up
A key part of self-care practices when it comes to sexuality involves knowing yourself and feeling comfortable with your body. Not everyone was encouraged to examine their body and get to know it from a young age, but it’s never too late to start. Take a mirror or two and make the room comfortable for you to better see yourself.
And mental health connects to physical health. So if you haven’t gone to the doctor for an STI check or a general physical, now is a good time to get on the schedule. It’s good to get a wellness check at least once a year and, if possible, with each new sexual partner.
4. Make Movements
Doing physical activity can bring you more in touch with your body and provide an oxytocin release, but not everyone loves to go for a morning run. There are a lot of great options that can let you move your body more and explore new feelings. Consider different types of yoga, or going dancing.
Think of activities that allow you to be free in your movements. This is good for women’s and men’s sexual health.
5. Touch and Tell
Learning about what you like physically is crucial to your sexual health and enjoyment. Try doing a pleasure mapping activity alone or with a partner. Go through all the parts of your body and explore where you like to be touched and how.
