The Prime Minister’s ex-wife has spoken out on why she decided to end their 25-year marriage.
Ms Wheeler, who has two sons and two daughters with Mr Johnson, married in 1993 before announcing their divorce in 2018 and finalising it last year.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping, the lawyer and author said: ‘The divine plan, it seemed, had gone awry.
‘My four children and I already had tough stuff to handle. My 25-year marriage had become impossible, so I ended it, but the whole business was grim.’

‘So why was I being doled out more? Of course, that’s not how cancer works. Nor does life.’
Ms Wheeler said two years on from her diagnosis that she could see she was ‘lucky’ and urged other women to attend their cervical screening appointments.
She added: ‘Because I was screened, the cancer was identified early – at stage 1 – and could be treated relatively easily.’
US businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri claims she had a four-year affair with Mr Johnson between 2012 and 2016, while he was married to Ms Wheeler.

She claims they began seeing each other while Mr Johnson was serving his second term as Mayor of London and that she had slept with him in his marital home.
The tech entrepreneur said PM would request racy pictures of her and she would reply with ‘arty’, professional topless shots.
He allegedly said one was ‘enough to make a bishop kick a hole in a stained-glass window’.
The Prime Minister has never denied having an affair but has a policy of not commenting on his private life.
