A hairdresser who is alleged to have stabbed her husband to death just three days after Christmas has been arrested and charged with his murder.
Teresa Hanson, 53, of West Cowick, near Snaith, East Yorkshire, has been remanded into custody to appear at Hull Magistrates Court today following the death of her husband and father-of-two, Paul Hanson.
Police were initially called to the couple’s home at 7.15pm on December 28, where Paul Hanson, 54, was found injured with a stab wound.
He was rushed to hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Shortly afterwards it was confirmed that a 53-year-old woman had been arrested in connection with the attack, who was said to be known to the victim.
According to neighbours who knew Mr Hanson, he was a doting dad and grandad that would always stop for a chat.
Residents – who had only seen him a few days earlier at Snaith Christmas Market with his wife and daughter – described them as ‘a really lovely family’.
Following the incident, panic spread throughout the village as locals saw a swarm of police converge on the couple’s sleepy neighbourhood road on Wednesday evening.

‘I thought a burglary must have happened or something, until the police came knocking on my door asking questions,’ one man said.
Another woman said: ‘It’s been absolutely manic with police cars down here. Never in a million years did I think something like this would happen.’
A local man added: ‘The family have been there for around three or four years, the guy always said “alright” to me when I’d walk my dog.’
Mr Hanson worked as a site manager at Sword Construction UK and his work van could often be seen parked in his driveway in the village of West Cowick.
In July, Mrs Hanson posted a social media tribute to her husband, posting a smiling picture of them together to commemorate their 34th wedding anniversary.
Humberside Police later released a statement saying there was no wider risk to members of the public, but officers would remain in the area over the coming days.
A spokesperson said: ‘A man who sustained a fatal stab wound at a property in West Cowick on Wednesday 28 December has been named by his family as Paul Hanson, aged 54.
‘We were called to reports of an injured man at a property on Little London Way, West Cowick in Snaith at 7.15pm.

A woman, aged 53 was arrested on suspicion of murder and currently remains in police custody whilst we continue with lines of enquiry.
‘Paul’s family continue to be supported by specialist trained officers and have asked for privacy at this time.’
Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Burnett added: ‘We understand that news of a tragic incident such as this will cause shock and concern to people in the village and surrounding areas.
‘However, I wish to reassure people that this was an isolated incident between people who were known to each other and, as such, there is no wider risk to members of the public.
‘Officers will remain in West Cowick over the coming days whilst we continue with our investigation, and a scene guard will remain in place.
‘Please come to talk to us if you have any concerns, or information that may assist with our enquiries.
