RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo revealed: “I know that Mbappe asked to leave.
“It is complicated because first you have to find a club that has the money to pay him.
“But the news is that he really does not want to stay – the player does not believe in Leonardo’s project.
“If he does not leave this summer, it will be for free next season – and in Doha [PSG’s owners] they do not want to hear about it.
“If Mbappe expresses this desire to leave, it means that he will have to find a club and that PSG will need to look for a replacement.
“But yes, the news is that Mbappe does not want to stay at PSG.”
Los Blancos have long made it clear they want the France ace – who supported the LaLiga giants as a kid.
Florentino Perez and Co had hoped to sign Mbappe this summer, before adding Erling Haaland in the summer of 2022.
It’s believed the Borussia Dortmund ace has a clause in his contract allowing him to head to the Bernabeu for just £63m next year.
And Madrid’s plan was to partner him with Mbappe by swooping for the wantaway PSG star THIS summer as part of their new-look Galacticos.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Mbappe, with the player full of respect for Jurgen Klopp.
But Real Madrid are firmly in pole position and the 2018 World Cup winner’s latest admission will give them hope.
