Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool warned Ben White ‘will cost £50MILLION’ after Brighton star called up to England squad

MANCHESTER UNITED, Arsenal and Liverpool have been warned Ben White will cost £50million, according to reports.

The Brighton defender, 23, enjoyed a fine debut Premier League season this term.

And he was rewarded for his form by replacing the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in England’s final 26-man squad for Euro 2020.

Brighton are unsurprisingly desperate to keep hold of the Three Lions star beyond this summer.

And to do so, the Daily Mail say the Seagulls have slapped a £50m price tag on the Dorset-born defender.

Liverpool had their defensive woes this season but should have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip fit again come the new season – plus Ibrahima Konate has signed from RB Leipzig.

United continue their hunt for a long-term partner for Harry Maguire with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to cement a solid defensive pairing this summer.

And Arsenal have lost David Luiz so may well be on the hunt for a new centre-back – but cannot offer European football next term.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Roma, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund have all also been linked with White.

Brighton hope that £50m figure, though, would be enough to fend off any potential interest.

Alternatively, a bid meeting their valuation would simply be too good to turn down.

Leeds tried their luck with a £25m offer last summer after White helped them get promoted into the top flight.

But recognising his potential and quality, Brighton resisted and have been rewarded.

White’s contract at the Amex runs until 2024 meaning the south-coast club are in no rush to sell.

And the Mail report adds they may even try and tie him down to an improved deal.

White came on for his senior England debut against Austria last week then played the full 90 minutes in the win over Romania on Sunday.

And he could earn his second start in the Three Lions’ opening Euros clash against Croatia on Sunday.

Harry Maguire is unlikely to be fit in time meaning Southgate could turn to White to partner John Stones at the back.

The England boss may opt for a three-man defence with Conor Coady and Tyrone Mings also battling to be included in the starting XI.
