Silent Hill 2 remake – after so many years of no Silent Hill games, fans will apparently be drowning in them (pic: Konami)
On top of the leaked Silent Hill: The Short Message, a horror games insider insists that Konami still has three other projects in the works.
For the last few years, there were constant rumours of Konami returning to its Silent Hill series. So, when the company announced three separate games in October, you would think the rumour mill would die down.
However, a couple of age ratings websites make mention of something called Silent Hill: The Short Message, a so far unannounced title for the PlayStation 5.
Apparently, that’s not the only one either as it’s claimed that another three Silent Hill games are in the works.
This is according to horror games insider Dusk Golem, who had insisted since 2020 that Konami was reviving Silent Hill.
Last May, they even posted screenshots of what they claimed was a new Silent Hill project, which was proven legitimate when the images were struck down by Konami.
While they haven’t elaborated on their claims, Dusk Golem mentioned in a ResetEra thread that, not including The Short Message, there are at least three more Silent Hill projects that haven’t been announced, one of which is early in development.
As for The Short Message, its listing on Taiwan’s age rating website has since been updated with more information.
Silent Hill: Townfall – details remain slim on the three confirmed Silent Hill titles (pic: Konami)
Firstly, it seems to be in development at Konami and not outsourced to another studio like the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill: Townfall.
Secondly, the listing now includes a story synopsis which, when put through Google translate, reads, ‘Anita came to an abandoned apartment in order to meet her friend Maya, and somehow woke up to find herself trapped in it.
‘She must escape her own fears and the monsters lurking in the corridors, discover the truth behind the events she’s trapped in, and try to escape before her own trauma consumes her will to survive.’
Dusk Golem says that The Short Message is the same game they leaked pictures of in May, and their initial leak did mention the names Anita and Maya.
You can view The Short Message’s listing yourself by following this link and typing Silent Hill into the search bar. It should be the first result that comes up.
Konami has not issued a statement on any further Silent Hill projects. However, with The Short Message already listed on two age ratings websites, the company could say something about it in the near future.
